As the countdown continues towards June 5, the deadline for entry to 2020's Young Director Award, this year's Jury Chairman speaks to former winner Vincent Lambe.

Lambe's film, Detainment, picked up the YDA Special Jury Prize in 2018 and went on to be nominated for an Oscar the following year in the live-action short film category. The film, an often harrowing account of the real-life tragedy of the abduction and murder of James Bulger, a two-year-old from Merseyside, won huge praise, but no small amount of criticism.

Here, Lambe discusses the petition, signed by 250,000 people, to have the film removed from Oscar contention. He and Bartoletti also talk about how the lockdown can have the effect of fostering creativity, how people might portray the coronavirus crisis in years to come, and they wonder which stories should - and shouldn't - be told.
