WAX Welcomes Multi-Award-Winning Editor Alvaro Del Val
WAX has strengthened its roster by bringing on multifaceted, multi-award-winning Editor Alvaro del Val.
With nearly 15 years’ worth of editorial experience, Alvaro del Val honed and established his cutting craft in Madrid and Dubai for global clients like McDonald’s, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Nissan and Nestle before making his way to New York City. After three strong years working in the U.S., del Val knew it was time to make WAX his home. “WAX has a great reputation in the market and has been consistent in doing things well since the day they opened the doors,” he says. “I love their approach to the industry, the clients and the employees alike. Their approach to each editor is very personal and they develop a specific strategy to get each of us to the place we’re aiming for. I know I’m in the right hands to push my career forward.”
During his lengthy career, del Val’s work has canvassed the creative spectrum, from commercials and music videos to short documentaries and films. More recently, he has brought his renowned creative editing flourish to multiple Cannes Lions-winning projects for the likes of Fitbit, the short documentary/film festival favorite The Kicking Yoda, Marriott’s documentary short series ‘Storybooked’ and Volvo’s captivating “Song of the Open Road,” the latter of which earned an AICE Best Editing Award in the Automotive category.
Regardless of whichever medium he works in, however, the Bilbao, Spain-born, New York-based del Val always lets the narrative inform and drive his creative editing approach. “The story within is the most important part and is the core of every project,” the newest WAX editor explains. “You need to find the leitmotif of the piece you are editing to understand what style and tempo is needed. It’s nice to try different approaches, and new ways to tell a story, which is always a challenge, but I like to explore and discover. It’s like discovering a new treasure that was hidden underground, and now you just want to share that beautiful discovery with the world.”
According to WAX Founder/EP Toni Lipari, del Val’s versatility and creative storytelling vision are just part of what makes him a valuable addition to the company’s roster. “Alvaro’s passion for his craft shines through in all of his work. His sense of visual storytelling and emotion is a natural fit for WAX. We are elated to welcome him to the team.”
