For its latest campaign, created by DDB Mudra, German automotive brand Volkswagen has decided to cut the cars from its ads, instead using endearing and relatable human situations to metaphorically illustrate its vehicles’ safety features.

The spots, directed by Shaanan Pereira, each focus on a different safety feature of its cars. A cat hisses to alert his owner that he is about to be sat on, representing a Volkswagen’s Rear Parking Sensors, and a man passes his girlfriend a tissue before she cries, portraying the Rain Sensing Wipers.

The campaign is centred around the tagline #SafeLikeaVolkswagen, and leverages the brand’s affinity for telling human stories.  “As a brand, Volkswagen has been built around human stories.” Explained Rahul Mathew, Chief Creative Officer, DDB Mudra Group. “Therefore, we thought the best way to illustrate our safety features would be through examples of how we navigate our every day.”
