Created for Viettel 5G by Ho Chi Minh agency The Friday, this deranged spot was directed by Phong Nguyen and Le Hoang, through Flex Films, and follows the adventures of the flamboyant Uncle Badass.
Celebrating the Vietnamese Lunar New Year (Tết) – a time for family reunions – the film kicks off with our hero deciding that since his far flung siblings can't come home for the holidays, he's gonna get roaming, geographically and telephonically, and meet up with them.
What it lacks in brevity, it certainly makes up for in colour and interest, as the road trip sees the intrepid motorcyclist take in various subcultures rarely seen in Tết ads, from tattoo parlours to drag queens.
