This music video for World’s First Cinema is a Freakshow
New Work From The Corner Shop and director Luigi Calabrese.
Freak Show by World's First Cinema, and directed by Luigi Calabrese, was designed to evoke the free-flowing, energetic spirit of fun 90s music videos.
Together with the band, Calabrese sought to craft a world that celebrates the music’s lively atmosphere while still incorporating subtle elements from the song's lyrics. The creative challenge was balancing this playful, free-form visual style with a deeper connection to the narrative.
Much of the performance was both designed and improvised on set, allowing the band and cast to respond naturally to the environment. In line with the free-spirited 90s vibe, the video broke the fourth wall, engaging the audience directly and adding to the fun, spontaneous feel.
A variety of lenses, including a 60mm, fisheye and split diopter, were used to enhance the visual aesthetic of the era. These choices created a dynamic, immersive experience that mirrored the music’s intensity and playful chaos.
