Channeling 80s Bangles vibes and 90s Jamiroquai, Quinn Wilson directs King Princess in Pain.
King Princess is a young, queer artist who’s not afraid to be the object of a gaze. In Pain, they take that to the extreme, showing up on the screen in (light) BDSM gear, slightly bloodied, in half-shirts and with targets across their breasts. She’s in total control of her image, and the production is fuzzy and fun, full of detail and strange angles. It’s weird and wonderful, and perfectly modern, even as it references the past through haircuts, fashion, and editing.
With this piece, Quinn Wilson joins Object & Animal for worldwide representation. She first came on the scene as a Creative Director for Lizzo, with her hands-on approach giving her control over aspects of creative output; album artwork, video direction, and stage design, and Lizzo’s Grammy Performances. “Quinn is able to radically shift ideals of beauty and convention in a clever and campy way, subverting industry norms while delivering truly modern moments of pop culture,” says Morgan Clement, E.P at Object & Animal.
