Anyone who's watched Dirty Dancing will know that there's nothing unmanly about being able to boogie, yet the stereotype of graceful movement being associated with feminity still persists.

It's this apparent clash of cliches that forms the heart of Stefan Hunt's brilliant new short, Yeah the Boys. Created in collaboration with his wife, writer-choreographer Vanessa Marian, and shot through Exit Films, the film follows six young Aussie men as they sink some beers and get up to hijinks in a backyard.

However, rather than showcasing the relationships through dialogue (top-notch opening setup aside), the short instead melds into a surprisingly beautiful dance,; mixing laddy nonsense with tender movements.

Backed by a terrific track by The Avalanches and filmed with a precision and grace that more than matches the on-screen hoofers, this Pina Bausch-esque bloke ballet is a treat to experience.
