Global post-production company Smoke & Mirrors have appointed Kenn MacRae to the newly formed role of Global Creative Director. Based in the Amsterdam office where he’ll also act as Managing Director, MacRae will help steer Smoke & Mirrors’ creative collaboration with partners worldwide, following the VFX company’s continued expansion and growth, including LATAM and APAC office openings.

As writer, director, and creative director, MacRae has worked on film content and more for agencies, brands and audiences around the world for twenty years. Sydney-born, Hollywood-schooled, and Amsterdam-based, his appointment follows Executive Creative Director roles at Sid Lee and Iris, where he oversaw ideation and execution of concepts across all media.

Gary Szabo, CEO Smoke & Mirrors: “Agency, prodco, management, director’s chair: Kenn’s seen the business - and demonstrated leadership - from a lot of sides. Wherever his involvement, storytelling and creative have been paramount, and that suits our plans perfectly.”

MacRae will be responsible for reinforcing creativity in the workflow across the post-production company’s major facilities globally, aiming to enrich the evolving creative expectations of client relationships.

“I want us to be recognised as deeply-involved creative partners more than just great finishers.” says MacRae. “Smoke & Mirrors are only a year old in Amsterdam, but their pedigree is long and storied. Helping them tap even deeper into the dynamic creativity of the brands and agencies in this market, and others, is a dream opportunity.”
