Sherif Alabede joins Ruffian
Alabede has worked as a writer on the acclaimed HBO series, Perry Mason, and the upcoming Darren Aronofsky-produced Netflix series, The Craving.
Sherif Alabede is a 1st generation Nigerian-American writer, filmmaker and music video director.
Alabede has worked as a writer on the acclaimed HBO series, Perry Mason, and the upcoming Darren Aronofsky-produced Netflix series, The Craving. He just sold an original horror series, entitled Popobawa, with Blumhouse TV to Showtime.
Alabede recently wrote, directed and produced a short film, Another Country. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June, and won the HBO Short Film Award at the American Black Film Festival. Another Country was inspired by a poem, entitled My Mother Dreams of Another Country, from Natasha Trethewey’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book of poems, Native Guard. Damon Lindelof and Stacy Osei-Kuffour executive produced, and the film stars Taylour Page and Mark Webber. Currently streaming on HBOMax.
Alabede is also an acclaimed music video director, having worked with artists, such as the late Juice WRLD and A$AP Rocky. His award-winning music videos have screened at SXSW, Hollyshorts and Camerimage.
