Despite social distancing, collaborative projects seem to be more important than ever at the moment.
Case in point is this haunting promo for Inside I’ll Sing, a quarantine-reaction piece from Isolation Choir (itself a collective of musicians, including Joe Newman (Alt-J), Jonathan Donahue (Mercury Rev), Douglas Dare, Anna Meredith, and New York-based composer Nico Muhly), for which director and singer Fiona Jane Burgess had to remotely work with a multitude of talented filmmakers.
Making use of unseen footage shot a year beforehand by Burgess, the film took the talents of Cut+Run editor Jo Lewandowska and Black Kite colourist Richard Fearon to reimagine it for the brand new track.
“We looked over all of this footage that I had shot the previous year," comments Burgess, "and the pace of the movement, the emptiness of the house and these dancers who are together, but also apart, separated by the vastness and the emptiness of the house. Everything about it just worked perfectly.
"It felt like making something from the remains of something else. It shows us that we can do a lot more than we think with what we already have.”
