Out of Pulse Films, East Side is Scribz Riley’s homage to his neighborhood, which keeps him grounded while also lifting him up.

As Riley floats above a car, he sings in a soft, mellow voice, backed by a single guitar and a minor melody. He’s lost in a memory but seems to be moving back in time, a reminder and a vision. When he comes crashing to the hood of the car, he’s jolted into the present, into the world that knows him. It’s simple, straightforward, and incredibly compelling.

East Side blurs the past and present to offer a gentle reclaiming of a past that always welcomes Riley back into the fold. For the young boy that watches Riley, the view from below is an inspiration and a warning. Beware of how high you want to rise, but don’t be afraid to get there anyway.

Directed by Savannah Setten, East Side is a piece that talks about itself without talking about itself. It is a memoir and a parable, meant for Riley’s past self. It’s a peek on the formative inspirations that Riley has used throughout his career, and the result is a calm, powerful promo dedicated to the next great Eastside musician.
