An ironic Olympic bid video, Salla 2032 explains all the ways that global warming will transform this chilly arctic town into a perfect venue for summer sports as a call to climate action.

Filmed on location in Salla, various athletes and citizens explain how by 2032, global warming will have transformed this Lapland town into the perfect venue for summer sports! Women in beach volleyball outfits play on a snow-covered court, a torch-bearer in short shorts runs through the forest, a man takes a bike down a mountain where you would usually see a snowboard. And honestly, the commitment to the bit is unreal. You have to admire a man who will jump into a frozen lake in just a pair of speedos.

The whole town got involved in this piece from Africa Sao Paolo, including the mayor, Erkki Parkkinen., who says, “Our intention here is clear: we want to keep Salla as it is, and our winters cold and full of snow...If we stand back and do nothing, letting global warming prevail, we will lose our identity, and the town we love – as well as many others around the world - will cease to exist as we know it.” Created for House of Lapland with the support of Fridays for Future, the PSA was produced by Triatoma and directed by Santi Dulce.
