Director Robert Strange returns for another instalment for the BBC, this time for Lauren Laverne’s 6 Music breakfast show.

Using a colourful blend of 2D animation, he matches the illustrative styles befitting each track played throughout the film. From New Order to Little Simz, David Bowie to Wet Leg, the audience is transported through the show’s eclectic offering.

We follow a pair of feet through a dreamlike journey through the musical ages. From 20s inspired black and white animation to 90s retro graphics, Blink's Strange oversaw a diverse group of designers and animators to bring this to life. The campaign was created with BBC Creative, it’s a rallying cry to open minded audiences looking to step out of the ordinary. It's about embracing different genres of music which have recently been homogenised by algorithms and echo chambers.

The film positions 6 Music as the destination for music lovers to discover music beyond the mainstream. This is what Strange had to say about the project: “Wow, what a great piece of work this is, all thanks to a big team effort. It was so cool to work with the BBC again, I really love those guys. I would listen to BBC 6 everyday when I first moved to the UK and I’ve never heard anything like it anywhere else in the world.

It was so sick playing with all these different styles and seeing the animation come together for each section; they all fit together SO nicely but are SO different. We searched far and wide and found the absolute perfect designers for each song/section.

The film has an amazing soundtrack. Directing music videos is my first love and getting to work on something that features New Order, Little Simz, David Bowie, and Wet Leg was like making multiple music videos for multiple different songs in one go. It was crazy to be able to work with this stuff. I hope you love it as much as I do.”
