Production company Reverie Content welcomes director Sylvie Weber to its growing, impressive roster of talent.

Weber’s debut short, The Prophetess, has won and traveled to several film festivals around the globe. Since then, the acclaimed filmmaker has honed her vividly imaginative storytelling style seamlessly across formats, including documentaries, narrative fiction, music videos, and commercials.

Being of German-Dominican descent, Weber’s own exploration of identity and belonging became a driving force behind her filmmaking, alongside her desire to unveil the character within. Steeped in poetic realism, Weber’s films delicately capture the force of human emotion while adding a magical twist on narrative through film that challenges the viewers’ usual point of inquiry.

As a multifaceted filmmaker, Weber has directed music videos for the bands The xx and Melanie C, fashion films for Aeyde and William Fan, and commercials for Nike and Lufthansa. Weber’s ability to bend genres has earned her work features in a range of international publications, such as Vogue, Rolling Stone, The Fader, The Los Angeles Times, and The Creative Independent.

Weber’s 2018 debut short film, The Prophetess, premiered at the Africa International Film Festival in Lagos and won awards globally, including Best Short Documentary and Best Social Awareness Short. The film is currently screening at Los Angeles Filmforum through November 5. Her short film The Art of Value, circulated international fashion film festivals in 2021, including Milano Fashion Film Festival, Canadian International Fashion Film Festival, and Bucharest Fashion Film Fest, where it won Best Fashion Film. Presenting William Fan’s Spring Summer and Fall Winter 2021 collection, the film questions the mechanisms of consumerism and our systems of value and hyperbeauty.

"My work has always been driven by a desire to rework historical injustice through its possibilities and a playful, poetic lens," Weber says. "Reverie Content has built an impressive and diverse roster of storytellers, each offering a unique perspective, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it."

“Sylvie has repeatedly shown her talent for translating her extraordinary imagination to film across mediums,” says Rich Pring, Co-Founder/Executive Producer at Reverie Content.

“I enjoy finding something new in Sylvie’s films each time I watch. She beautifully and consistently captures strong character performances while crafting unique cinematic styles for each film.“We look forward to collaborating with her to continue telling stories that have the power to shift culture for the better.”
