What’s the best music video you’ve seen recently and why?

I am a big fan of Mette - Mamas Eyes directed by Camille Summers Valli.

For me being a DJ and massively into my music, its key that I love the track and this ticks that box and everything I love in a video, great direction, pace, edit, choreography, colour, style, mixed media. Last but not least it has such a feel good factor and so much positivity which the world needs right now.

What other directors/artists do you look to for inspiration?

I feel honoured I get to work with director Keith Schofield, he is a good example of someone who has been doing videos for years yet always comes with something so fresh to the table, his Duck Sauce - Mesmerize video is just genius!

Other directors for me are more on the visual side: love Naghmeh Pour’s Iran-e Man, and Valentin Petit will be forever remembered for his incredible body of work, taken from this world far too soon.

Artists: I have mentioned a few but additional ones would be Little Simz, Rosalia, The Blaze, The Gabriels and FKA Twigs and a few from a DJ point of view 2manydjs, Annie Mac, Carlita and Peggy Gou.

What are you listening to at the moment?

I have done you a little Spotify playlist of some of my favourite artists and tracks of the moment, since there are too many to list here ;)

What’s your favourite bit of tech, whether for professional or personal use?

I would have to say my iPhone, with all my apps and social media accounts, messages, emails etc in one place, it pretty much covers off it all apart from my CDJs obvs ;)

What artist(s) would you most like to work with and why?

Jungle, I am such a fan. I went to a premier of their Jungle - Loving in Stereo visual album and was totally blown away, every track and video was next level. Just pure art in the highest form and one the UK’s most exciting unique and fresh addition to the music industry to me in the past decade.

Jungle’s J Lloyd and Charlie Di Placido have taken their latest one-take video for Back On 74 one step further in their collab with WeTransfer to offer up an innovative interactive video which sits alongside the main film. So yes these guys! The choreography, all of it, I'm a BIG Fan!

How do you feel the promo industry has changed since you started in it?

I think the same as with advertising and commercials, sadly the budgets and timings are crazy and expectations from client on our side still crazy considering the stipulations.

Where do you see the music video industry being in five years’ time?

There will always be a need for content and music videos to be made for artists. I am sure will be the same as it is now, oversaturated with super talented directors and up and coming filmmakers willing to make stuff for little money, as the artistic freedom directors have on music videos, this is where they can push their creativity and showcase their talents and grow as a director.

Tell us one thing about yourself that most people won’t know…

As a kid aged eight I was like Grade 6 with piano and theory haha! But then left London and moved to countryside and had a horrible scary teacher so slowly gave it up. So I moved onto guitar and drums. This explains how I ended up kicking off my DJ career 25 years ago as music was always in my blood.
