Remember early 2023, when the letters A and I didn't provoke rage/yawns/confusion with every utterance?
Well, back then, an AI enthusiast under the moniker 'PizzaLater' created a bit of a stir with an entirely machine-generated commercial called Pepperoni Hug Spot, in which a collection of surreal creations are seen munching down on slice after slice, to equal parts humorous and disturbing effect.
For his latest film, the creator has put out something that seems to have eluded the community thus far, a proper sense of narrative; unveiling a slight but coherent short that showcases the mundanity of office life, only for things to end with a POOF.
Impressively, the film not only contains genuinely tactile-looking 'puppets', but also maintains a sense of consistency in its design and construction that marks it out from many other recent creations.
For the curious, here are the tools used: images were generated by Midjourney, video clips were created using Luma Labs Dream Machine and Runway Gen-3, sound effects were sourced from Eleven Labs and Splice, editing was done in Adobe After Effects, and audio design was completed in Adobe Audition.
Most incredible, however, is the insanely earworm-worthy tune that rounds off the film - Drifting Without Sound - a yacht rock 'classic' with an unavoidably catchy refrain and remarkably authentic sound, all generated in Udio AI.
