Conceived and helmed by Christofer Vibenius, through Swedish production company Storyfire, this brilliantly succinct piece of storytelling is testament to the magic of film.
Without words or exposition, a sense of unease builds as the camera tracks around a lone child in an empty room, her mouth subtly pixelated. Titled Mute, the film plays out against audio comprising Pixies’ track Where Is My Mind and jarring sounds that hint at calamity.
As the scene and music switch into a sunnier mood the message lands – that children silenced by trauma can find their voices via music.
The director, crew and Pixies all donated their time/talent/intellectual property pro-bono.
