There are few football moves as humiliating and skill-shaming as being a victim of the humble nutmeg.

[note to non-soccer fans: a nutmeg is kicking the ball between an opponent's legs.]

Be it on the schoolyard footy pitch or the international stage, becoming the victim of such a sly move can be crushing, so it's lovely to see sporting legends Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba and Ronaldinho play with the concept in Pepsi's World Cup spot, Nutmeg Royale, created through BBDO Argentina and Primo.

Kicking off (quite literally) with GOAT Messi getting 'megged', the film is filled with football culture references from start to finish, with football influencers Luva de Pedreiro and Kaljit Atwal showcasing their trademark flair, football journalist and influencer Fabrizio Romano telling the world about the fast footwork, and the humble hoofs of Horsinho getting time to shine.

Taking us on a whistle-stop tour of Marrakech (soundtracked by Fatboy Slim’s evergreen Rockafeller Skank), director Ernest Desumbila's witty spot combines cheeky humour and blistering dexterity with some top-notch editing from Joâo Teixeira and post work from SAUVAGE.TV.
