There’s something deeply motivating about watching athletes work hard, even when they aren’t competing.

It’s the drive. It’s inspirational. This spot focuses on the practice, the non-stop, give it your all, don’t quit, don’t even think of quitting determination that athletes at any level have to have. With quick cuts between kids, adults, and teenagers all working on their different sports, director Paul Wie has really captured the energy of competition.

The editing on Soundtrack to Greatness (which was also done by Wie) is spot on, both from a sound design and filmic perspective. The quick cuts to the beat of the spoken word remix are engaging and upbeat, creating a feeling of momentum. Swimmers, boxers, tennis players, skateboards, they shift in between quick moments of triumph and reverse-filmed practice, creating a loop of improvement and feedback. The piece is just, ultimately, very cool to watch, and a fantastic showing from an up-and-coming editor/director and his team.
