Brought to life by Brother Films’ Nolan Grose, this gripping short film from Hawaii-inspired shoe brand Olukai spotlights Mike Coots, a fearless ocean enthusiast turned shark-conservationist.
Titled The Call, the compelling creative splices awe-inspiring shots of marine scenery, documentary-style interviews and Coots’ own photography to tell his career and horrifying shark attack story.
Despite losing a leg, Coots’ infectiously positive outlook inspires him to not only get back on his board, but advocate for shark conservation alongside other victims. The campaign shares how pivotal moments come in unexpected forms, and how sometimes what hurts us, can also be what empowers us to move forward.
