What do you get when you toss a gender-bent Mona Lisa, a space age Adam and Eve and a heaping tablespoon of neon lighting in the oven and bake until golden brown? A slick car commercial, apparently.
Directed by by Daisy Zhou and produced by Boogie Films for Marcel/Paris, the Break Icons DS 3 Crossback campaign isn't afraid to get weird. Cross-cutting footage of the spiffy spiffy car with colourful, hallucinogenic imagery that feels scooped straight from the deleted scenes of a Nicolas Winding Refn movie, the series of spots emphasises a slick, futuristic and defiant vibe. Zhou, who also served as director of photography, lends the spots a fantasy feel with swirling camerawork that perfectly captures the colourful dreamscapes.
