As we approached the sombre one-year milestone of Russia's attack on Ukraine, Rode Kruis-Vlaanderen (Red Cross in Flanders) and Croix-Rouge de Belgique (Red Cross in Belgium) collaborated with creative agency BBDO to create this affecting campaign.
BBDO enlisted the support of international artists, including; Ed Sheeran; Editors; Tame Impala; George Ezra; Years & Years; Twenty One Pilots; Rudimental; and Roméo Elvis, who all had one thing in common – they filmed promos in Ukraine before the conflict began.
The campaign sees the artists removing the country from their songs on music channels like YouTube, replacing the visuals with a black screen and text reminding us that the locations and people in the original music video are now "unavailable".
The idea was to make the country "disappear", just as the people, places and infrastructures of Ukraine are in literal danger of disappearing from the impact of war, with the new films encouraging viewers to continue supporting victims of the conflict by making donations to the Red Cross.
