Fun fact: any household chore can be made 1000% more enjoyable with an 80s banger to belt out.
So forms the basis of Leo Burnett's festive spot for Morrisons; a shamelessly feel-good offering featuring a gaggle of oven mitts that serenade the heroes who put together tasty Christmas dinners.
Directed by Tim McNaughton from The Bobbsey Twins, and shot through Arts & Sciences, the film unites a host of truisms - oven gloves as hand puppets, filling the oven above capacity, belting out Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now like there's no tomorrow - to create something entertaining, seasonal and utterly relatable.
“The humble oven glove is at the heart of every Christmas across the UK," comments Mark Elwood, ECD at Leo Burnett UK. "Everyone has a pair in their kitchen drawer or hung up on the oven, whether they’re a fresh new set or the ones that got scorched while making Christmas dinner in 1993.
"Our singing oven gloves are there to support hosts up and down the nation whilst making their Christmas dinner special. Bringing a little festive joy to the nation with an 80s banger that everyone can sing along too.
"#GloveOke anyone?”
