Production company MindsEye welcome comedy directing powerhouse Sammi Cohen to their directing roster.

Cohen is a director, born and raised on comedy and filmmaking in Los Angeles, with the belief that comedy can, and should, look good. After dipping her toes into the worlds of improv and acting, Cohen soon found that she preferred life behind the camera. She began to shoot comedy music videos with her friends at Upright Citizens Brigade, catching the eye of CollegeHumor. They hired her as part of a Female Filmmaking Initiative and she went on to direct some fifty originals for the site, catching the eyes of the public and movie execs alike.

This work for CollegeHumor forged the perfect pathway into the world of commercials, TV and feature films. Cohen is set to release her debut feature film Crush, a queer high school coming-of-age comedy, on Hulu in early 2022.

Hughie Phillips, MindsEye MD, had this to say: “As soon as I came across Sammi’s work, I knew I had to find a way to work with her. Her sketch work for CollegeHumor sits right up there with some of the best sketches SNL has to offer. To find work that is so brilliantly funny and then to meet such a grounded, charming and creative individual behind it all makes Sammi something of a unicorn, and I just couldn’t be more excited to start our professional journey together.”
