Irkad joined Merman four years ago as a Production Assistant and has since grown rapidly within the company, developing her craft under the guidance of Siobhan Murphy and Spencer Dodd.
Raised in an immigrant Cypriot household in East London, Irkad credits her upbringing with shaping her worldview and the work and talent she is drawn to. She began her career in wellness and live events following a degree in photography, before pivoting into film production.
Irkad joined the AD team on Amazon’s The Peripheral, where she was given the opportunity by Phoebe Vale Markham to hone her skills within the department. With a deep love for comedy, Merman’s roots in the genre have felt like a natural fit for Irkad, offering a storytelling vehicle she connects with most. Alongside this, she is passionate about discovering new directors and supporting them in bringing their ambitious visions to life.
Irkad says; “I was a fan of Merman before I joined, and an even bigger one now. What a privilege it’s been to learn from some of the best in the industry, Siobhan and Spencer have guided me from the ground up, encouraged my growth, and trusted me to bring my own voice and instincts to the work. Excited for what 2026 has in store for us Mermanites!”
