If you ever want to put a crew together, there are worse people you can call than Mark Molloy.
From the delightful buffoons of Apple's Underdogs to the time-hopping teams in adidas' Backyard Legends, the EXIT director knows a thing or two about managing a posse, and in his latest film for Australian pensions and investment provider MLC, he's turning it up to (Ocean's) eleven!
Set around a group of ordinary Australians concocting an absurdly complicated scheme, The Heist pairs the creative minds at Princess with Molloy's slick sense of storytelling to create a yarn that hits all the beats we've come to expect from the genre.
Marking Princess’ first anniversary, the campaign is its biggest production to date, with more than 171 AV assets set to roll out across TV, cinema, BVOD/SVOD, OOH, social, online, radio and owned channels over the next 24 months.
“You know you’re onto something when you’re tripping over yourself in excitement to tell the client," explains Beth O’Brien, Cameron Bell, Sam Dickson and Jonny Berger, founders of Princess. "MLC only ever want to see big, brave ideas and they embraced the work from the get go.
"In our minds, there was only one person who could get on board and make our idea a reality and that was Mark Molloy. He believed in the idea from the moment we first shared it with him, and things only got better from there…”
“I’ve worked with the creatives from Princess before," adds Molloy, "so I knew what kind of ambition I was signing up for. The Heist let us make something fun and cinematic out of a category that rarely gets to be - plus I’ve always wanted to make a classic caper film.”
