Maria Campos presents Amor Mio
IXYXI and Director Hernán Corera blend their roles in a powerful interdisciplinary video.
170 km away from the centre of the San Juan province in Argentina lies the town of Calingasta. This is where José de San Martín, leading the Argentine independence army, started the historic Crossing of the Andes.
It seems like an appropriate setting for IXYXI and director Hernán Corera to start their collaborative interdisciplinary journey in Amor Mio, the latest music video by Maria Campos.
Having previously collaborated on several projects, this duo reunites for a different kind of venture. Blending roles, Mate Yaya, head composer of IXYXI, teams up behind the camera with director Hernán Corera, who at the same time takes a seat in the music production chair alongside Mate.

IXYXI has provided music and sound design for many of Corera's works, and this strong creative synergy has resulted in this new type of collaboration.
“We’ve been working on numerous projects together. It’s common practice for us to discuss the story, concept, and emotional thread of every film with the director before even talking about music, as storytelling is paramount for us. These talks always went for hours with Hernan, always exceeding the piece at hand. I guess we were so excited about each other's vision that we both wanted to invite the other into our creative world,” said Mate Yaya.
Maria Campos is a talented Argentine cantautora who was looking for a new and deeper take on her craft for her new album. With that mission in mind, she approached Corera, who says he “immediately thought of Mate.”
“We connect in that when we think of music, we do so in images, and when we think of images, we listen to music. And luckily for us, we felt Maria’s music contained a whole universe inside,” said Hernán Corera.
Amor Mio conveys a powerful story of love and death, filmed on 16mm in the Province of San Juan, Argentina.
As the directors describe, “Amor Mío could well be a love story consummated in a brave duel, a ghost story, or perhaps an opera gauchesca. For us, it is all of the above, a prayer that connects the world of the living and the dead.”
