A woman introduces her new boyfriend to her diverse family, a queer couple shyly discuss their status without jump(er)ing to conclusions; a lonely oddball in a café finds his clan.
Produced by mint2 and Nadie Studio, this life-affirming short titled We Belong Together, gently observes how people accept each other and navigate being individualists who need other individualists.
Boasting exquisite design, perfect casting and a spot of unusual horseback horseplay, the genius of the film is that it is quirky, but not merely for the sake of being quirky. This is topnotch quirk with a lot of heart.
It was one of five winning films from last week’s Shiny Awards, which was hosted by Saatchi & Saatchi London and champions under-represented new director talent.
The four other worthy winners were: Number One Candidate, for AntsLive directed by Tom Emmerson; As Above directed by Kemi Anna Adeeko ; The Society of Fancy Couches directed by Jackie Abraham and Bud directed by Claire Norowzian.
