Care for an elderly relative can be a heartbreaking, desperate situation. But, as this comedy short from new Outsider signing Freddie Waters goes to prove, it can also be pretty funny.
Essentially a single conversation between Tom, a spluttering academic played perfectly by Jack Whitehall, and the carers to his elderly grandfather, a deliciously sparring pairing of Lolly Adefope and Ellie White, Waters' deft touch, ear for a joke and elegant framing turn what could be a simple sketch into a wonderfully enjoyable character study.
Aided by a sparking script and utilising the considerable talents of Adefope, Whitehall and White (themselves extremely chucklesome people, as their stand-up/character comedy goes to prove), Luger is a lovely shot to the funnybone.
