Did you know that in Pocatello, Idaho, it's illegal not to smile? And in Washington, it's against the law to harass a sasquatch?
The lunacy of the legal system is brilliantly brought to life in The Martin Agency's inaugural Stupid Laws campaign for LegalShield, in which some idiotic regulations are given (sur)real life context.
Directed by master of the enjoyably nonsensical, Vedran Rupic, through MJZ and Business Club Royale, the four commercials create genuine laughs from their off-kilter concepts, tied together wonderfully through witty scripts and smart direction.
“As crazy as it sounds, there was a reason these stupid laws were created in the first place," says Caroline Ekrem, CD at The Martin Agency."and with all the nuanced codes and statutes out there, it pays to have a legal expert who knows their ins and outs when you find yourself in a tricky situation.”
"The legal industry felt very cold and stuffy," adds Dave Gibson, copywriter, "so we wanted to change the tone of that. If lawyers can have a sense of humor and be a little self-deprecating, it suddenly makes them a lot more approachable,"
