I wise man once said ,"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
Admittedly, that man then invaded a parade and smashed up his best friend's dad's car, but the essence of Ferris' words can be felt in the laid-back vibe of these lovely little spots for convenience store chain QuikTrip, in which hazy days of warm weather are designed to be cherished.
Titled Savor Summerhood, the breezy campaign from Laughlin Constable sees PRETTYBIRD directing duo The Coles capture small moments of joy on film; the simplicity of the scenarios adding to the work's charm.
“Summer is made up of small moments that people genuinely look forward to all year long,” said Dawn Deal, Head of Marketing for QuikTrip. “Customers are consistently tagging us as they share their everyday lives and special celebrations with friends and family. Many of the ideas for these spots and supporting social creative came from them – whether it was a shared memory from their youth of a cold Freezoni on a hot day, or a pit stop for a Big Q after the game-winning home run.
"QuikTrip has been a part of many of our customers' summers, and this campaign is a nod to those everyday moments. Laughlin Constable understood from the beginning that this wasn’t just about convenience and speed; it was about capturing the feeling of summer and the role QuikTrip can play in helping people stop and savour it.
“The best summer memories are rarely grand or polished,” adds Jon Laughlin, Chief Creative Officer of Laughlin Constable. “They’re usually simple moments with friends, family, food, music, sunshine, and spontaneity. We wanted QuikTrip to feel naturally woven into that experience. Shooting the spots on film was the extra touch needed to capture the warmth, texture, and nostalgia of summer in a way that felt honest and emotionally lived-in.”
