Jordan Bruner Joins the Strange Beast Cave

Director Jordan Bruner joins the Strange Beast roster.

Strange Beast in London has signed director Jordan Bruner. Bruner is an artist, illustrator and filmmaker who trained in Kinetic Imaging (video, animation and sound, VCU) and is currently based in Brooklyn, New York. Jordan's early interests were illustration and film making. She saw the possibilities of combining these art forms using animation after coming across the work of animators such as William Kentridge, Martha Colburn, Yuri Norstein and Jan Svankmajer, whose personal visual styles are central to their films.

Jordan's characters and films are inspired by stories that she has collected from various sources, such as mythology, history, art, books, running, friends, family, animals, music and travel. She uses drawings, collage, live action and digital techniques in her distinctive work. Jordan has directed music videos (Lonesome Blue) and an ident for the Sundance Channel.

"The Leaf Woman and the Centaur" is a recent short film project partially funded by Future Perfect Music. The central love story is set against a backdrop of creation myths. The film has been screened at various festivals across North America and Jordan is currently seeking funding to make more stories in the same series.

Bruner says, "I would love to continue to work on interesting projects, whether they are short films, music videos or commercials. I'm looking forward to working with Strange Beast because they're involved with many inspiring projects and people and I'm thrilled to a part of their team."
