Jacob Collier's bewitching watercolour world

Short film studio Bare Golly Films have released this beautifully enchanting, hand-painted film to accompany five time Grammy-winning artist Jacob Collier's latest single Never Gonna Be Alone, feat. Lizzy McAlpine & John Mayer. 

This whimsical animation takes us on a gentle and reflective journey, abundant with dreamy imagery of birds, leaves, starry skies and surreal interiors, painstakingly realised in vibrant watercolour illustrations. 

Utilising over one-thousand, two-hundred individual paintings, the music video features four extended sequences of fluid frame-by-frame animation, created over two months by a team of nine artists. 

It’s the second piece created by Shan Christopher Ogilvie and Ewa Smyk for Collier, who previously directed a lyric video for the same song, also created in watercolour paint, and featuring the bird characters who now appear in the main narrative.
