BAFTA-Winner David Kerr Signs with Hotspur & Argyle
Hotspur & Argyle of London has added the BAFTA-winning comedy specialist David Kerr to its roster of directors. The announcement was made by Theo Delaney, Hotspur and Argyle co-founder and a director at the company.
Kerr has been nominated twice for the BAFTA Best Comedy Award, and won in 2007 for his work on the first series of "That Mitchell & Webb Look," which was described as "the best sketch show in a decade" by The Guardian.
He's also worked with some of the biggest names in British comedy, including Steve Coogan and Vic Reeves. Most recently, Kerr directed the primetime chef comedy "Whites" for BBC Two, starring Alan Davies. "A classic of British comedy," said The Mail on Sunday in its critique of the show. But the director is not limited to comedy; his TV drama credits include BBC One's "Cutting It" and two special episodes of "Footballers' Wives," starring the legendary Joan Collins, for ITV.
Kerr signs with Hotspur and Argyle fresh from directing the BBC One Christmas campaign, fronted by Matt Lucas and David Walliams. These six films showcase characters from the comedy duo's new series, "Come Fly With Me," meeting some of BBC One's biggest stars. (Click here to see the spot starring Ronnie Corbett.)
"I love working with comedy actors, and working once again with David and Matt on the BBC Christmas campaign was a joy," Kerr says. Adds Delaney, "David's credentials are second to none, especially when it comes to his comedy pedigree. We're thrilled to have him on our roster."
A Cambridge graduate with a first-class degree in Classics, Kerr was born in Northern Ireland and is now based in London.
