This new, three-minute animated spot Guide Dogs is the sweet, colourful story of a puppy called Flash and his journey to becoming a trained guide dog.
The film, called Flash the Pup, was directed by Bruno Simoes through Studio Kimchi and follows a Labrador puppy called Flash and her puppy-raiser Annie as they go through Flash’s first year of training. We watch as Annie helps familiarise Flash with different environments, teaches basic obedience, and instructs Flash on how to ignore distractions like loud cars and lightning.
Whilst the film is animated, Flash - named after one of the first guide dog puppies raised in the UK in 1931 - is actually a real puppy, currently enjoying her own puppy training with a family in Hertfordshire. “This is the first time we have taken over an entire advert break, which is a bold and exciting step for Guide Dogs," said Emma Foulds, Director of Marketing and Strategy at Guide Dogs. “We celebrate our 90th anniversary in October, and we thought there was no better way to pay tribute to the backbone of our charity, our fabulous volunteers, helping people with sight loss live the life they choose."
To help raise awareness of this vital work beyond the TV, Guide Dogs has teamed up with actress Joanna Page [pictured above with the real Flash], who voices Flash in a special audio version of the story, created specifically for people with sight loss.
