The film revisits Crouch’s ongoing relationship with white clothing, shifting the emphasis from damage control to quiet confession. Inviting the audience into his wardrobe (literally), he inventories a collection of yellowing T-shirts, each marked by how optimism and reality tend to part ways.
Allen keeps the action grounded, allowing the humour to accumulate, with an inventory of all the ways those white t-shirts become that particular shade of off-white.
Ditch the Dinge marks another chapter in Fresh Film’s long-running partnership with Ariel, and shows the production company’s focus on collaborative working and supporting directors to deliver confident, performance-led films.
