Kazagui’s work focuses on finding the fantasy in the everyday. His innovative spirit allows him to present raw energy with interesting framing, unexpected camera transitions and otherworldly visuals. His powerful, grounded aesthetic channels the imagery and movement he captures, whilst elevating the magical realism of his work.
His inclusive approach to filmmaking creates an environment where his characters truly feel seen and often shines a light on diversity of culture. His most recent short Lucia breaks the stigma behind pole-dancing and explores the ways the film’s focus uses her craft to transcend societal expectations and her own journey as an artist. This film is currently streaming on Nowness.
Kazagui’s self-assured passion for his craft has led to a number of meaningful collaborations across the advertising scene, with a collection of work for global brands including Adidas, Dior, Nike, Renault and Salomon, to name a few.
Throughout his career, Kazagui has received critical acclaim including several nominations at Berlin Commercial Festival, Berlin Fashion Film Awards and the Toronto Independent Festival of Cift. In 2020 his short Movement won at the Independent Short Awards and again at the Berlin Shorts Awards in 2021.
Born in France and raised between his home country the Central African Republic and his hometown Le Mans, Kazagui initially established himself in the buzzing 90s skate scene before discovering his unquestionable passion for moving images. Kazagui says about joining, “I am thrilled to be joining DogEatDog. I can’t wait to see the exciting work we will make together and where this journey takes us”.
