Despite the men's team not winning a major international tournament since 1966, us Brits are pretty cocky about the quality of our football.
Taking this cliché and kidnapping it, Sid Lee and Big Productions duo Adrien & Roman have created a rip-roaring, eye-popping introduction to Ligue 1 (the French equivalent to the Premier League), in which cynical wideboy Willy is bundled, tossed, and manhandled through the many assets of le foot.
Taking no pause for breath, Football à la Française tears through the screen, drawing on numerous cinematic visual references and delightful transitions that pass so seamlessly to each other the film can't help but score big.
