The latest interviewee in our series of talks with YDA 2020 Gold winners is Mexican-Iranian cinematographer and director Farhad Ghaderi, whose promo for Jordan Klassen's  Virtuous Circle [below] picked up a gong in the Music Video – Northern America category.

Telling the tale of a pair of siblings in the lead-up to a race, Virtuous Circle explores the joys and pains of brotherhood, the self-destructive older lad being both mentor and antagonist to his kin. Packed with iconic imagery and two phenomenal performances, the film is a screen sizzler and rightly caught the eye of the judges.

In the above video interview, Ghaderi explained the process building up to the shoot, why he shot most of it himself on 16mm film and what its subsequent success has meant to him.
