Set to the classic Cinderella track A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes, the skateboarding fairy shows off her skills and her city.
When she was seven years old, Rayssa Leal’s life changed when a video of her landing a heelflip while wearing a fairy costume went viral. New Fairies pays homage to that moment as Leal skates through Sao Paulo, and surrounding her are animated birds, mice, rabbits, and a squirrel, running with her across the city. Charming and sweet, the ad mixes live-action with traditional animation, creating a fun environment for Leal to show off her skills.
New Fairies was directed by the Fridman Sisters and produced by Stink Films. Wieden+Kennedy São Paulo acted as agency lead. At the time of filming the ad, Leal was an Olympic hopeful. Now, at thirteen, she’s an Olympic silver medalist, winning in the Women’s Street category. "Skateboarding is a sport for women too, it's for everyone,” says Leal. “We only need to believe in ourselves and in our potential.”
