It's a heartbreaking truth that, despite the obvious benefits towards stopping the spread of Covid, national lockdowns are a living nightmare for those who live with abusers.
This subtle ad for domestic abuse charity Woman's Aid from ENGINE London says much by saying very little - instead focussing the action on a mother and son seeking refuge in their car; an excuse-laden VO providing an upsetting alibi.
Directed by Spindle's Molly Burdett, Respite's story plays out through intimate pictures, utilising a restrained performance and throught=provoking juxtaposition to elicit a genuine sense of empathy.
