Continuing Dove’s ‘Real Virtual Beauty’ campaign challenging female imagery in video games, LOLA MullenLowe has released a thought-provoking animation, RVB Cinthia’s Battle

Directed by againtstallodds and produced by Passion Pictures, it features the story of Cinthia, a video game character who, after defeating her last enemy, finds herself facing one much more important battle – to be herself rather than a hyper-sexualised, unrealistic image of a woman.

It’s based on the real story of Cinthia Dalama, one of the many protagonists whose 3D avatar is available to download for free on Dove’s #RealVirtualBeauty website. The campaign is supported by allies across the industry, including Women in Games and the Unreal Engine education team at Epic Games.

The campaign is inspired by new research conducted by Dove and Women in Games, which shows that 60 per cent of girls and 62 per cent of women feel misrepresented in the gaming sphere, with over one-third of young girls' self-esteem being negatively impacted by the current lack of diversity.
