You may not have heard much about BIRTH FRANCE director CHNDY before, but we have a feeling that, if all his work contains as much imagination and wildcard wit as this new promo for DJ Snake, we’re on to a winner.
Created to accompany new track Cairo Express, this deliciously nutty video sees a unique three-piece comprising a muscle-bound man, an elderly lady and DJ Snake himself on the hunt for an equally talented fourth member.
With wonderful scene-setting from the off and a cheeky wit that outdoes itself with an unexpected Matrix reference two-thirds of the way through, this impressively oddball promo proves that the Omani filmmaker is one to keep an eye on.
“When I arrived in Egypt, I wasn’t looking for perfection, I was looking for energy,” says CHNDY. “We wanted to capture the city as it feels alive, unpredictable and full of character. DJ Snake’s trust pushed us to take creative risks and create something authentic to the people and culture that inspired it.”
