Los Angeles and London based production company Furlined announced the addition of director Erin Heidenreich

A perpetual curiosity has led Erin across the globe to share the stories and voices of those who might have otherwise gone unheard. From a small town in Wisconsin, to The Netherlands, China, Africa, Southeast Asia and Tribal areas of Pakistan, Erin seeks to discover the common human themes that connect us all across diverse and foreign cultures.

Erin’s first feature length documentary film, The War to Be Her, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2016 to critical acclaim. The film tells the story of Maria Toorpakai, from the Taliban controlled region of Waziristan, who disguised herself as a boy growing up so she could play sports. The film follows her rise to success as the country’s top female squash player, the revelation of her true identity, that in turn brings death threats upon her and her family by the Taliban.

In the short film, Rising Sons, Erin travelled to The Democratic Republic of the Congo to chronicle an innovative and highly successful approach to ending sexual violence through social and emotional education of men who commit crimes against women.

Shortlisted at this year’s Cannes Lions, Erin’s film for Dove’s #ShowUs campaign, aims to celebrate a more diverse and inclusive portrayal of women and beauty. Dove partnered with Getty Images and Girlgaze to create the largest collection of images by and of women, non-binary and female-identifying people. Erin worked with individuals from across 39 countries to shatter stereotypes and focus on a more culturally representative vision of beauty, confidence, and success.

Erin’s work with Always underscores the impact that income inequality can have on a young woman’s education. Work for Dove and Always exemplifies the human truths unveiled in Erin’s films, truths that resonate with the brands’ values and their commitments to having a positive impact on people’s lives.

“Erin has been part of the F, family for some time, and I am thrilled to now make it official,” states Ben Davies, Vice President of Furlined. He then added, “Erin's filmmaking voice and values come hand-in-hand. She is a truly unique talent, and I look forward to sharing her perspective with the industry.”
