Shot in a single night, this exploration of resilience, strength, and movement gives a dancer freedom in the moment.

The film is divided into four parts that correspond to Henley’s famous poem Invictus. Throughout the film Kevin Bago walks through the streets, the subway, the whole of the city, engaging with the ways in which it rejects and accepts him. As he dances, he finds hope, and his surroundings are given something like a soul.

Part confessional, part art piece, Dance or Die lays a hand full of heart on the table. With exceptional direction from Nathalie De Lopez and wickedly sharp work from the editors at Shadow Lab, the piece is dark, full of depth, and engrossing.
