Co-written by Marko Roth and Manuel Iljitsch and produced through 5ter, The Journey follows a young woman, played by Cecile Sinclair, as she makes a moving call to her late father from a phone box.
Looking back on a trip they shared when she was a child, we see the flights and falls of an out-of-touch man as he flounders in the rough waters of early fatherhood.
Despite the obvious sadness surrounding her experience, there is refreshing sense of hope at the end, as the daughter realises that her father was simply doing the only thing he knew how to do.
The film closes with a moving moment; the daughter hangs up the phone, and climbs aboard a Daimler truck, following in the footsteps of her father.
