In Claude, an exceptionally well-animated and mite mischievous hamster starts a vendetta of minor annoyances.
Not happy with just scratching up the post in his cage, Claude the Hamster escapes his pen nightly to wreak havoc on the new roommate in the house. He scratches up prescription glasses, records, and even beloved slippers in an attempt to drive away the new boyfriend. His penchant for trouble gives the boyfriend an idea for the perfect Christmastime peace offering–a scratch-off card, just for Claude.
Ruairi Twohig, VFX Supervisor at Framestore said, "Our team set out to create a photoreal CG creature with the capacity to convey human-like emotions while respecting how a hamster would move and perform in reality. A real hamster was used for several shots, so it was important to maintain continuity between the animal and our CG-animated Claude, while enhancing his performance at key moments in the story. Detailed lighting, compositing, and fx simulations helped to ground Claude in his environment and throughout his interactions with the actors."
The job of directing the hamster fell to Matt Smuckler, of Rakish. OKRP created the spot, and will develop placements for television, online video, social media videos, and out of home and on-premise in-store signage.
