Christian Lyngbye tells the story of the lonely road for Škoda
Everyone wants to feel the heaviness in the legs after a good, hard trip on the bike, yet with an earned smile on your face.
The Tour de France starts now. Everyone wants to feel the heaviness in the legs after a good, hard trip on the bike, yet with an earned smile on your face.
Plotworks was approached by Škoda and Jacob Karne from Brandhouse with the idea of giving the cyclists appraisal for exactly that feeling: catching the first morning sun through the Danish urban side of Copenhagen while threading away in the pedals through the woods and over the hills, before greeting their family, and the Škoda family car, back in the driveway.
“To be honest, it was an absolute pleasure being back on set directing commercials and being able to tell a story that dives into a mindset, a feeling, that the cyclist has. I wanted the viewer to ‘get in the driver's seat,’ basically, and see the beauty of the open roads ahead,” says director Christian Lyngbye.

The film intercuts between the main character on the bike and actual footage from Tour de France emphasising the feeling of threading the pedals on the empty, almost endless roads.
"Škoda has been a major sponsor of the Tour de France for many years. We aimed to combine this sponsorship with the insight that everyone who cycles recreationally occasionally plays with the dream of participating in the Tour de France. By tapping into this insight, we could connect it with the everyday life and mindset of both cyclists and potential Škoda drivers," says Jacob Karne, Creative Director Digital at Brandhouse.
Karne continues: "We selected Christian Lyngbye and Plotworks for this project because we wanted a high level of aesthetics to truly honour cycling and tell the story in a beautiful way. Our goal was for viewers to recognize that feeling and associate it with the Škoda brand."
Skoda wants to tip the hat to this feeling. All through the summer.
