Full-service agency Butler, Shine, Stern and Partners (BSSP) has announced the hiring of Thomas Simmons as its new Chief Financial and Operating Officer (CFOO) and Trina D. Arnett as Head of Marketing Sciences. 

As the CFOO, Simmons will head fiscal responsibilities and operational enhancements that keep BSSP competitive. In a new role for the agency, as the Head of Marketing Sciences, Arnett will lead the expansion of the Department and agency capabilities like marketing mix modelling, holistic analysis, data integration, and custom quantitative measurement methodologies. Both executives will report to Tracey Faux Pattani, BSSP’s Chief Executive Officer.

This announcement signals BSSP’s continued investment in key areas such as operations, media, and marketing sciences to serve clients’ evolving needs. Simmons will oversee the finance, IT, and operations departments, while Arnett’s team will contribute data and analytical insights across the agency.

In the last few years, having an organized internal structure has been necessary to navigate both remote and in-person work, and Thomas’ combined CFOO role will provide fluidity at the leadership level. As we continue to stay competitive, the new Marketing Sciences Department with Trina at the helm will be an integral part of the new business process providing holistic research and data insights that direct our creative, strategic, and media work. Simmons comes to BSSP from Los York, where he served as Chief Operating Officer, and before that he was at Amobee as Director of Corporate Development & Strategic Planning. His career has taken him coast-to-coast across investment banking, public accounting, and corporate development for organizations big and small. A few years ago, he chased a dream to make an award-winning documentary film.

Arnett joins BSSP with 30 years of experience in market research and analytics, most recently serving as an Assistant Teaching Professor of Analytics in the Department of Advertising, Public Relations, and Media Design at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Prior to teaching, she was the Chief Analyst at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, where she developed and led the Analytics Department for the agency. Following her time at CP+B, she launched her own analytics consulting agency, trinalytics, LLC, which she has been running for over ten years.
