Blok and Plan B’s coalition tackles voter apathy

“Vote for who you hate least!” It’s hardly a ringing endorsement of our glorious democracy. And women mindful that their plucky suffragette forebears actually threw themselves under horses in order that they might vote might feel a little ‘yeah, but what’s the point?’. 

However, as this brilliant video for First Past the Post, the latest from Benjamin Paul Ballance-Drew, aka Plan B, reveals, now is the time for young voters to wise up about the UK's electoral system and get involved. 

Dark Energy’s directing duo Blok (Paul Casey and Richard Jobson) employ nifty infographics, lip-syncing grannies spouting obscenities and Plan B himself dressed as an oily MP in a bad blond wig to accompany the rapper’s deathless prose. 

Seriously who else could come up with so many delicious rhymes for ‘tactically’? And we’re loving “that’s right we still talkin’ bout Brexit, this ain't no super-complex shit.” (emphasis on the 'plex').

Paul Casey comments, "We all know that loads of people think that their vote doesn't count, which in the current system isn't exactly wrong, and we wanted to help Ben [Plan B] get people to know how to play the system a little better, rather than being played by it. We wanted to help discourage apathy, at a time when people are losing faith in the whole political system."
